Home Free
Long before their national breakthrough on NBC’s “The Sing-Off”, Home Free had already established a working relationship with Darren on a handful album mix projects in the early 2000’s, but that relationship blossomed after the country vocal band took the “Sing-Off” crown in 2013, and landed their contract with Columbia Records. Crazy Life, was their first release on that label, but Darren only lended only his recording and engineering hand to the project. But by the second record, Country Evolution, Darren was already arranging, and mixing much of the album, even co-writing the Austin Brown original, California Country.
Following the departure of founding member, Chris Rupp, Darren quickly became an integral part of the Home Free production team, serving as head Arranger, Producer, Mix & Mastering Engineer, and even co-writing on a handful of original songs.
Through this long-standing partnership, Darren has helped shape the Home Free’s signature sound that has defined the band’s recordings and online presence for more than 2 decades—contributing to a massive music catalog and video campaign that continues to reach millions of listeners worldwide.
